Gangaikonda Cholapuram

Gangaikonda Cholapauram (கங்கைகொண்ட சோழபுரம்) located near Jayankonda cholapuram, Ariyalur District, Tamilnadu.

Gangaikonda Cholapauram temple recognised as a World Heritage site by UNESCO. After the announcement this place got famous on tourist visitors and attract more domestic and foreigner. Also the Govt and local body started better maintenance and make it clean place.

Hostory: Rajendra Chola 1 built a great city called Gangai konda cholapauram ( கங்கைகொண்ட சோழபுரம் ), which is located in Ariyalur district. Part of the city Rajendra build a great Gangai konda cholisvarar temple (This look like same kind of Tanjore temple, but little smaller in size).
